Supporters & Partners

Open Up Resources was originally founded by 13 states as a “collaborative.” As we evolved into a nonprofit, we have maintained our commitment to a collaborative, leveraged organizational model. We have a small core staff enhanced by an exceptional network of educators, partners, and supporters. The foremost experts in K-12 generate our content and ensure its quality & desirability.

Supporting Organizations

Open Up Resources was originally incubated by The Learning Accelerator as The K-12 OER Collaborative. In April, 2016, we were established as an independent 501c3, and we have relaunched as Open Up Resources with support from the leading organizations that spawned our work.

Creative Commons is very pleased by Open Up Resources’ plans to build the highest quality K-12 instructional content in a more equitable, affordable and accessible way than traditional all-rights-reserved copyrighted materials, by offering all of their content exclusively under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

We at Lumen Learning are committed to harnessing the power of Open Educational Resources (OER) for colleges and universities and we are excited to see our friends at Open Up Resources on a similar mission for America’s k-12 Public Schools!

States

We began as a state-led initiative, The K-12 OER Collaborative. Open Up Resources continues to work with these states and leaders from their Departments of Education, gaining  invaluable perspective into policy,  partnerships, procurement, and standards. We also receive advice on various aspects of our work from these mission-driven partners.

Open Up Resources have been developed with a deep commitment to quality as job one and with teacher collaboration as an integral part of development and curation. As a founding state partner, we are excited to see these materials in the hands of educators as they offer the ultimate in local control and help leverage small school district budgets to do great things for all students.
Scott Cook, Director of Academic Services and Professional Development, Idaho State Department of Education

Content Partners

College and Career Readiness Standards, led by the Common Core, have laid the foundation for fixing the long-broken mathematics curriculum that has undermined the hard work of our teachers and students for too long. But unless we build great instructional materials on top of that foundation, it will go to waste. The team at Open Up Resources has designed and is building just what we need. Mathematicians on the team have focused on the mathematics that matters most and organized it coherently, so it makes sense to students day to day and year to year. The talented teachers on the team have designed lessons that are engaging and effective for the great variety of students that fill our classrooms.
