Recap: “I’ve Got 5 On It” Webinar Series

We recently wrapped our “I’ve Got 5 On It” webinar series, and playback is now available for all sessions! This engaging and informative series brought together 5 educators, thought leaders, and experts in the fields of ELA and math education speaking on 5 topics, and the sessions provided valuable insights, research-based strategies, and practical tips to enhance teaching practices and support students’ learning journeys.

The “I’ve Got 5 On It” series alternated each month between focusing on key aspects of the Science of Reading and research-based math teaching practices. These webinars were designed to offer educators openly accessible professional learning opportunities aligned with Open Up Resources’ mission of cultivating more equitable classrooms.

Here’s a recap of some of the key highlights and takeaways from the series:

  • Science of Reading: In the Science of Reading sessions, we delved into the foundational principles of effective reading instruction. Educators explored the science behind reading acquisition and discovered evidence-based strategies to help students become proficient readers.
  • Math Teaching Practices: The math-focused webinars emphasized research-based teaching practices. Educators learned how to implement these practices in their classrooms to foster a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts among their students.
  • Expert Insights: Throughout the series, we had the privilege of hosting expert educators and researchers who shared their knowledge and experiences. They provided valuable perspectives and practical advice to empower educators in their classrooms.
  • Equity and Inclusivity: Equity was a central theme in many of the sessions. Educators explored ways to create inclusive learning environments and support students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality education.
