OUR Day of Service: Celebrating Community Impact

At Open Up Resources, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. Each year, on April 1st, we commemorate our founding with a Day of Service. On this day, our office closes its doors as our team members head out to make a positive difference in the world around us.

Here are just a few highlights from this year’s inspiring efforts:

Rachel Martinez: Rachel re-engaged with her work as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) in the Conroe, Montgomery County area. She spent her OUR Outreach volunteer day at The Rock Center for Child Advocacy, supporting foster care cases and advocating for children in need.

Lynda English: Lynda dedicated her time to writing grants for the Claiborne County Animal Shelter. This year, she focused on securing funds to provide halfway house fees for local female prison inmates, highlighting the interconnectedness of community support systems.

Cedar Mathis: Cedar visited the blood bank to donate blood, spreading awareness and positivity.

Safiya Bansfield: Safiya seized the opportunity to declutter and donate unused items to her community. From books to non-perishable foods and clothes, her contributions made a meaningful impact on those in need.

Nicole Rizzo: Nicole took action by picking up litter at her local city park, demonstrating her commitment to environmental stewardship and community beautification.

Hailey Wallace: Hailey prepared and delivered meals to local families in need, spreading warmth and kindness through her culinary talents.

Maria Babiak: Maria and her family dedicated their morning to spring cleaning, organizing donations for nearby animal shelters and local missions. Their efforts showcased the power of collective action in making a difference.

Kim Romain: Kim volunteered at St. Francis House, helping to organize clothing donation areas and learning about the impactful work of the organization firsthand.

Through these diverse acts of service, OUR team members exemplified the spirit of compassion and community engagement. Their dedication and generosity continue to inspire us all to make a positive impact wherever we can.

Thank you to Rachel, Lynda, Cedar, Safiya, Nicole, Hailey, Maria, Kim, and all OUR team members for their commitment to serving others and making a difference in the world.

Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate future for all.
