At Open Up Resources, we understand that not all professional learning needs are one-size-fits all and oftentimes these needs do not fit into a traditional professional development model. The Teacher Leader in Residence will meet your teachers where they are in their implementation journey of Open Up Resources K–8 Math throughout customized and continuous support.


  • Bridging the Opportunity Gap: Strategies for Accessible Grade-Level Content (March 19)
     March 19, 2024
     7:00 pm - 8:30 pm All students should engage with content that is appropriately scaffolded, with many opportunities to express their thinking, negotiate meaning, and collaboratively solve problems alongside their peers and teachers. Let’s support sense-making and make meaningful connections for the children in our classrooms without sacrificing the rigor of grade-level work.
  • Amplifying Student Voices: Fostering Inclusive Classroom Conversations (March 26)
     March 26, 2024
     7:00 pm - 8:30 pm When students have a purpose for talking and listening to each other, communication is more authentic and relevant. Student voice and ownership of strategies can elevate classroom conversations and connections made along the way. Let’s dive into strategies to strengthen opportunities and structures for students to describe and express their thinking to others.

The Teacher Leader in Residence professional learning services include:

  • Strategic Customized PLC sessions will virtually meet with teams of teachers to develop solutions around specific topics within Open Up Resources K–8 Math such as engaging teachers and students in effective instructional routines, assessments, pacing, interventions, planning and more.
  • Master Teacher Partnership sessions provide a personalized 1:1 virtual experience, which create a safe space for instructional growth. These sessions are highly customizable to meet each teacher where they are in their practice. Topics are centered around implementation challenges, effectively utilizing instructional routines, maximizing discourse and syntheses, engaging students in active learning, giving feedback to students, and more.
  • Customized On-Site Implementation Support provides on-site support tailored to the needs of teachers at each site. The Teacher Leader in Residence can model lessons, parallel teach, observe lessons and provide feedback, facilitate PLC meetings and provide topic-based workshops while on site.
