Dr. Tammy BaumannChief Academic Officer
Tammy joined Open Up Resources from Michigan State University, where she worked with turnaround schools focusing on narrowing the achievement gap in mathematics. Her work with Achieve, Inc. helped to promote the creation of instructional materials nationally, and inform their continuous improvement. She completed her tenure as chair for the Professional Development Services Committee for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), where she worked with professional educators and university staff from around the U.S. Prior to her work at the university, Tammy held several district-level positions, including director of curriculum and instruction, coordinator of K–12 mathematics, and instructional coach, in addition to teaching high school mathematics. For more than fifteen years she worked on state mathematics advisory committees, where she was directly involved in state standards, assessment, and implementation strategies. She holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Mathematics as well as Marketing and Management, a Masters of Education in Mathematics, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
